AstroImaging Roundup

Astro Imaging from 2022 (and images from the previous year, but not entered) are welcome.

The Wilson Coulee Observers Group is tasked every year to trying to round up as many images taken through Calgary Centre member's telescopes as possible. One of the greatest skills we can nurture, promote and share are the wonderful talents at the shutter of a camera, this centre has produced. There are today so many new forms for recording the night sky that we do see large numbers of certain ones flood in. As such we try to have "something for everyone" as it were.

All images taken should at least be scanned and e-mailed in. Don't hold back since images you may believe to be "below average" whatever that is, compared to "the magazines" still tell an important tale. They are all of great value to everyone. Last year for the first time, after much discussion, we published some guidelines for the various categories. We will soon publish these again in the next Star Seeker and get them back up on the web.

For those of you attending the Annual Banquet , these images will be played during the evening. It has become something of a tradition.

Here are the classes:

1. Sketch - a drawing made at the eyepiece
2. Video - time lapses or pure video showing some astronomy related action
3. Light Pollution- images showing examples of good or bad lighting practices
4. Solar System - images of the Sun, Moon, planets, comets, etc.
5. Deep Sky - images taken through telescopes of galaxies, nebulae, globular clusters, etc.
6. Wide Field - images of very wide fields of sky (e.g., Milky Way, aurora, constellations, etc.)
7. Youth Group - images in any category submitted by members of the Youth Group
8. Open - this category was created for more experienced imagers who no longer participate
in the other categories in order to encourage new people to contribute images to
those categories
NOTE: There is also an award for Best Overall selected from the entries. This image is also known
as the "Wall Hanger" - an image that the judges would like to see hanging on their wall.
ALSO: RASC Events and Astronomical Gathering E-pictures!
We would love to run your pictures taken of RASC or Astronomy related events and gatherings
you attended last summer and fall! Many of us have digital cameras and we have found that
creating a montage of these is well received at the annual banquet!

PLEASE FLOOD MY E-MAIL WITH ASTRO PHOTOS, EVENTS PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS!
